The name arose from the special “portafilter” for preparing the drink. The operation principle of the coffee maker is quite simple yet effective: water under high pressure passes through the “portafilter” filled with ground coffee. This process allows extracting the maximum flavor and aroma from the coffee beans, while also forming a dense foam — the extraordinary “crema,” which is a sign of properly brewed espresso.

Despite working with steam and high-temperature liquids, there’s no need to worry about safety, as the manufacturer has equipped the coffee maker with an overpressure protection system and a safety valve (to reduce pressure). Additionally, overheating protection is also provided.
